Preparation
Tools you need
- • Phillips #2 screwdriver
- • Anti-static wrist strap (optional but recommended)
- • Zip ties or velcro straps
- • Flat, well-lit workspace
- • Your motherboard manual (read it!)
Static safety
- • Touch bare metal or wear an anti-static strap before handling parts
- • Work on a hard surface — not carpet
- • Handle boards and cards by the edges only
Best practices
- • Read your motherboard manual
- • Install CPU, RAM, and cooler on the board BEFORE mounting in case
- • Use small containers to organise screws by step
Step-by-Step Assembly Wizard
Install the CPU
Align the notches and the arrow on the CPU with the motherboard socket. Drop the CPU in without force — it should fall into place on its own. Close the retention lever.
Actions
- 1Open the socket by lifting the lever (AM5/LGA: lift the arm)
- 2Align the triangle on the CPU with the triangle on the socket
- 3Gently drop it in — DO NOT press down
- 4Close and lock the lever
⚠️ Mistakes to avoid
Never force the CPU. Bent pins = dead motherboard. Don't touch the golden contacts.
💡 Pro tip
For AM5 (AMD), the socket has pins on the motherboard. For LGA (Intel), pins are in the socket. Either way: NO FORCE.
